Inglewood CDC Block Changes

The Inglewood CDC block assignment is a mandatory block assignment approved by the Curriculum Committee and released by the Clinic Director's Office. Your attendance is required in order to be cleared for graduation from the Section of Pediatric Dentistry. Clinic is scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of your assigned week.

If you have an urgent need to change your block assignment, you must do it through the standard procedures established by the school.
1. You must fill out a "Request to Change Block Assignment" form. Submit it for approval by Dr Clarice Law by placing it in the folder affixed to the door to CHS 23-011 at least two weeks prior to your requested change.
2. Retrieve the approved form. These will be completed Tuesdays and Fridays at 5:00 PM.
3. Submit the request form to your Group Practice Administrator to have the change made in the SOE system

Changes will be posted to the UCLA Inglewood CDC Block Assignment blog (click here to access) upon approval. On-site instructors will have access to this blog to confirm attendance at your block assignment.

Updated Requirements, Class of 2007

Because of the change in patient flow at the Children's Dental Center in Inglewood and the Venice Dental Center, the Section of Pediatric Dentistry has approved a change in your minimum requirements.

Updated Requirements

-A minimum of 16 full days participating in the clinical care of children

-Satisfactory completion of competency exams in:
*Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
*Prophy/Fluoride and OHI
*Bite Wing X-rays
*Local Anesthesia
*Class I Comp or Amal
*Class II Comp or Amal
*Pulpotomy
*Stainless Steel Crown

-In the event that you are unable to complete competency exams in the Pulpotomy or Stainless Steel Crown procedures, you may elect the following alternative:
*Completion of at least one of the two procedures
*AND completion of mock competency exams in both procedures

This alternative will be available beginning January 17, 2007 with Dr Sharon Freudenberger and Dr Corina Ramirez at the Inglewood CDC or with Dr Clarice Law and Dr Sherry Sami at the Venice Dental Center on Thursdays.

Completion of Block Assignments

-Completion of your block assignment at the Venice Dental Center will count as the appropriate number of days toward your requirements whether or not you were able to see children. However, if you were not able to see children during your VDC block assignment, you should make efforts to exceed your minimum requirements in order to gain actual competence

-If you have completed all of your requirements, you may choose to give your Inglewood CDC block assignment away to classmates. You must go through the proper approval process, filling out a Request to Change Block Assignment. However, if you are unable to find a replacement, you will be expected to attend your assigned block rotation.
